What's the big deal? The kids were told to re-enact part of history. Are the parents afraid to have their kids find out haw denigrating it was to be an African-American slave? This country's history of slavery is a fact, and should not be swept under the rug just because it is "an inconvenient truth." Kids should learn how bad it feels to be treated like dirt - perhaps then they won't treat other like that in the future. Those who don't study history are doomed to repeat it!

I really don't understand the concern here, so their kids had to play at being a slave, big deal. Some of the students weren't sure if the teachers were pretending or not? I'm sorry but I don't think I would admit my child thought that. And if my child told me it was horrible how their teacher treated them I would ask how long did they do that? Now imagine it your whole life.
