(Newser) – Tennessee's Chris Lofton nearly outplayed the Bulldogs alone in the first half of yesterday's match up, the AP reports. Lofton had 20 points in the half to give the No.3 Volunteers a 44-23 lead which they would not come close to relinquishing. He finished with a season high 27 points, including seven threes. In other NCAA action:

  • Brook Lopez made up lost time in Stanford's 82-77 win over Cal. Despite sitting out most of the first, he finished with 23 points. Twin Robin had nine, and four blocked shots.
  • No. 22 Drake took their winning streak to 17, with a 58-54 triumph over Northern Iowa. Klayton Korver had a team best 23, going 7-8 from three territory.
