(Newser) – What’s a normal exchange for an engagement ring nowadays? Years of love and affection? Undying loyalty? Well, for one young lady, the answer is sandwiches … and lots of 'em! New York Post reporter Stephanie Smith stepped out of the kitchen Tuesday, revealing herself to be the previously anonymous voice behind a blog in which a woman begins a quest to make 300 sandwiches for her man in return for an engagement ring. But some female writers took the Post reporter to task, saying this whole foodie project is a sad display of servitude.

Sandwiches for ring? Vulgar display for money? Apparently, these feminists have not recently watched Miley Cyrus or the other countless skanks in the entertainment world.

I think it sounds like a great book idea: "300 Sandwiches of Love" I would leaf through one at a Barnes and Noble. I think it is great that she went through the effort to make 300 different sandwiches. Nevertheless, it wouldn't surprise me that in this day and age, with her job as a reporter this won't cost her the respect of some of her coworkers and even her job.
