The new island.   (NASA)

(Newser) – Now you can get a better look at the island that emerged from the sea following last week's earthquake in Pakistan. NASA offers satellite images of the coastline before and after Zalzala Jazeera ("Earthquake Island") appeared, as well as a stunning overhead shot of the new land, as captured by NASA's Earth Observing-1 satellite. The Sept. 24 quake's death toll now sits at more than 500; some 21,000 houses were destroyed, RT reports.
