(Newser) – President Obama earlier announced he'd shorten his planned trip to Asia, instead dealing with the government shutdown; now, he's canceled the trip entirely, the White House says. Obama won't visit Malaysia, the Philippines, Indonesia, or Brunei. "The cancellation of this trip is another consequence of the House Republicans forcing a shutdown of the government," the White House notes. In Indonesia, he had been set to meet with the countries in the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation; in Brunei, he was to attend a meeting of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations, the Wall Street Journal reports. John Kerry will make the trips to Indonesia and Brunei instead.

"Obama Nixes Asia Trip Amid Shutdown" Must be no money for jet fuel, since his being here sure as hell has not helped. Perhaps the money is being used for guards to keep veterans from seeing outdoor war memorials. Face it. Your President is a political ass with no real interest in this country.

Mr. President. If you REALLY want to make a good impression and stop the waste and abuse of taxpayer money tell Michele to either FIRE about TWENTY of her personal staff or, like previous first ladies, pay for them herself from her personal money.
