Miley Cyrus and her tongue showed up at Saturday Night Live last night, with the former blessedly declaring "There will be no twerking tonight," before going on to a solid, if relatively uncontroversial, showing. While her turns as a high school cheerleader and would-be rapper fell short, observes Gwynne Watkins for Rolling Stone, "whenever she was asked to play herself, she was hilarious. Clearly, Miley Cyrus is her own best character." Cyrus spoofed herself in "Backstage at the VMAs," and teamed with Taran Killam to lampoon John Boehner, Michele Bachmann, and the government shutdown in "We Did Stop." (More Miley Cyrus stories.)
