Most people would rather skip sex for a year than skip coffee.   (Shutterstock)

(Newser) – Would you rather swear off coffee for a year—or quit sex with your partner, alcohol, or social media for that same span? If you'd opt to keep the java, you're in good company: Some 78% of respondents to a hotel group's survey agree, reports Fox. Moreover, 53% of respondents said coffee was better than sex as a way to start the day, the Le Méridien guest survey found. Some 22% of respondents—frequent travelers in the US, China, and four other countries—couldn't get out of bed without coffee, while 16% said they couldn't handle talking to another person without it.

Having partnered with the same woman for some 39 + years I'm sure I'd miss my partner more than that cup of coffee. One has to wonder what this says about us? I want to believe most of the responses were in jest.

My cup of coffee never wants to talk or snuggle afterwards. It never asks me does this cup makes me look fat or wants to complain about the tea at the office.
