(Newser) – Tom Hanks is looking slimmer these days, and when David Letterman asked him about his weight last night on the Late Show, Hanks offered a surprising revelation: He has type 2 diabetes, the Huffington Post reports. He's been struggling with high blood sugar since age 36, Hanks said, and his doctor recently told him, "You've graduated. You've got type 2 diabetes, young man." Hanks didn't seem all that bothered by the news: "My doctor said, ‘Look, if you can weigh as much as you weighed in high school, you will essentially be completely healthy and will not have type 2 diabetes,'" he said. "And I said to her, 'Well, I’m gonna have type 2 diabetes.'"

Yeah, so? Lots of people have diabetes. My neighbor has it. My ex roomie has it. My GRANDMOTHER had it. It's not like having flesh eating bacteria destroying your face or something. It's not a fun thing to have but its easily managable.
