Raiders Trade Moss to Pats

Posted Apr 29, 07 4:36 PM CDT in Sports

(Newser) – Hampered by a lack of receiving options last year, the Patriots are looking more and more terrifying in 2007 with the acquisition of talented but troubled receiver Randy Moss. Moss had been agitating to leave a humorously dysfunctional relationship with the Raiders, who have also succeeded in alienating budding star receiver Jerry Porter.

The Patriots are taking a player perceived to have character issues, but also perhaps the game's best deep threat; Moss becomes the marquee wideout in a corps also featuring 2007 pickups Wes Welker and Kelley Washington, as well as Donte Stallworth and Reche Caldwell. Moss leaves a team whose coach is one year older than he is.
