O's Owner the Apparent Snag in Bedard Deal

Posted Jan 28, 08 10:53 PM CST in Sports    Most Covered

(newser) – A proposed trade of Orioles rising star and left-handed pitcher Erik Bedard still awaits the blessing of Peter Angelos, reports ESPN. Bedard, who won 13 for Baltimore last year, would go to Seattle for a package of prospects including outfielder Adam Jones. There are no guarantees, though, as Angelos is notorious for vetoing deals. In other hot stove news:

  • The Phillies filled the hot corner, inking former Giant Pedro Feliz to a two-year, $8.5 million contract, plus an option. He'll replace the trio who played third base in '07.
  • Boston picked up reliever David Aardsma from the White Sox for two minor-leaguers. Aardsma's claim to fame is appearing first in the Baseball Encyclopedia ahead of Hank Aaron.
