(Newser) Elle responded to the uproar over Melissa McCarthy's controversial covered-up cover look in no uncertain terms, Us reports: "On all of our shoots, our stylists work with the stars to choose pieces they feel good in, and this is no different: Melissa loved this look, and is gorgeous on our cover. We are thrilled to honor her as one of our Women in Hollywood this year." Critics were unhappy that McCarthy was featured in an enormous coat, while other cover stars wore tight and/or skin-baring outfits.

McCarthy herself had already called the experience of posing for Elle "kind of amazing," ABC News reports, citing OMG!. And a source assures E! that the actress "loves the cover."

She looks beautiful on the cover - if she loved it then it's no one else's concern. She doesn't need people getting all offended on her behalf. She doesn't look like she needs help to speak her mind.

As long as Ms. McCarthy likes the cover, (as do I), then everyone can be quiet! I too am full figured and she looks terrific!

In this new world no matter what you do you got blabber mouths critics who love to hear themselves talk, condemning you. If she would have posed in a way that she was revealing skin and not covered up. Then you would hear from the other side, condemning Elle for not covering her up. SAD
