(Newser) – Google's mystery barge in San Francisco Bay was originally thought to be a floating data center. After all, it would have access to hydroelectric power and inexpensive cooling. But San Francisco station KPIX reports the barge will serve a much different purpose: Think "movable high-tech showroom for Google projects and products.” That's right—a modular, swanky showroom built from shipping containers. Google could, in theory, take apart the showroom, ship it from one place to another, and reassemble it. The company still isn't commenting.
