Pistons Have Need for 'Sheed, Shed Pacers

Rasheed Wallace's play on both ends spurred the Pistons to a 110-104 win over a sharp-shooting Pacers team; he had 24 points, 10 boards, and a key block with half a minute remaining to protect the Detroit lead. With Jermaine O'Neal out due to injury, Indiana hit 12 of 24 three-pointers. Also in pro hoops:

  • Minus pivotal starters Kevin Garnett and Ray Allen, a patched-up Celts team still managed to humiliate the hapless Heat in a game that wasn't as close as the 117-87 score.
  • A dissatisfied, soon-to-be-traded Jason Kidd helped the Nets stop their nine-game losing streak against the Bucks, 87-80.
