(Newser) – A 25-year-old Venezuelan who appears on TV in her country and is an accomplished flamenco dancer is the new Miss Universe. Gabriela Isler was crowned in the pageant at a sprawling exhibition hall on Moscow's outskirts. In the excitement just after the announcement, the tiara fell off Isler's head as she was being crowned; fortunately, she caught it. Patricia Rodrigues of Spain was the runner-up, with Aerosmith's Steven Tyler leading the judges.

i think it's crazy how some group of loser 'judges' can single out one woman and say "This is the best possible woman in the world". What makes them think they know everyone's collective tastes?

I will buy into this whole "Miss Universe" thing once there are contestants from other planets and galaxies in the known universe are included. Until then, Miss Planet Earth is really the limit of what this woman can be crowned.
