The DMV now sees what he did there.   (JMillerSPEAKSOuT)

(Newser) – The "NOT SEE" message on the vanity license plate was subtle enough to get past the DMV—but the meaning became pretty clear when San Diego school bus driver Shawn Calpito displayed it under a Nazi swastika on the back of his car. The California DMV has now canceled the plate and Calpito has been suspended from his job pending an investigation. The license plate was recently added but Calpito had apparently been driving around with the swastika on his car for months.

Parents say they worry Calpito has been using his job to spread hate. "It offends me, personally," one mother tells 10News. "He doesn't have to change his opinion, but just think of what he's doing for a job." The driver is "a guy who is promoting racial hatred," a civil rights lawyer says. "This is not what I would call a legitimate political belief, this is hatred," he adds. "The Nazis annihilated six million Jews." There's one town where that plate would be legal: The driver should move there...

i hate this world- if he wasn't acting inappropriately on the job, his only crime was not lying about who he is. employers need to stay out of their employees personal lives. he didn't DO anything. don't you have to DO something to get in trouble for DOING something? we're exercising the same hatred we claim to detest. we all harbor irrational hatred (oxymoron) in our hearts and alot of us display it with tasteless and offensive bumper-stickers etc. we don't discriminate against hatred- we discriminate against unpopular brands of hatred. Hitler was not evil because of his beliefs- he was evil because of his actions. Grow up!
