Standout freshman Michael Beasley continued his impressive season by leading the No. 22 Kansas State Wildcats to an 84-75 victory over intra-state rival No. 2 Kansas. Beasley, the nation’s leading rebounder and No. 4 scorer, scored 25 points despite being double- and even triple-teamed all night. Beasley also shot 4-of-4 from deep and grabbed six rebounds, reports the Associated Press.
The previously undefeated Jayhawks had not lost on Kansas State’s home court since 1983, a streak that spanned 24 games. However Beasley and the rest of the Wildcats took care of that streak and now find themselves sitting atop the Big 12 with a stellar 5-0 conference record. Mario Chalmers led Kansas with 19 points.
