Upshaw Unfazed by NFL's Pension Tension

(Newser) – Robbing Peter to pay Paul is not the answer to the NFL's pension woes, at least not in Gene Upshaw's eyes. The NFL Players Association will not take from the pensions of current players to help former players, says the group's leader, who's at the center of a storm of controversy over the issue. "We have to solve it a different way and we will."

The decision isn't sitting well with many, reports ESPN. "It's near criminal how some of these guys are being treated," says ex-Kansas City lineman Kyle Turley. He's one of several donors who have contributed money to help ex-players in need. Upshaw expressed confidence in the ability to reach a resolution, though he didn't elaborate.
