It turns out the end was nigh for Harold Camping, just not quite as nigh as he thought. The preacher, who thrice predicted the date of the rapture without apparent success, has died at age 92, Family Radio Network revealed today. Camping passed away at home with his family on Sunday, following a stint in the hospital after a fall, the AP reports.

Camping began his career as a civil engineer, before retiring and founding Family Radio Network. He first predicted the end of the world in 1994, and then again in May and October of 2011. Camping was chastened after those strikeouts, calling his attempts to predict the end times "sinful," and vowing not to try again. (More Harold Camping stories.)
