Jamie Spears Given Control Over Britney

Posted Feb 2, 08 6:44 AM CST in Gossip Arts & Living

(Newser) – Britney's dad is taking charge of the hospitalized singer's affairs, at least for the very short term. A Los Angeles court yesterday assigned Jamie Spears as conservator of her person and estate, meaning he has temporary control over her medical care and assets, MTV reports. The situation will be reassessed on Monday, but in the meantime he's calling the shots, and the singer isn't happy.

From her hospital room, the crumbling pop tart reportedly railed against her parents, screaming "Nobody's taking my house!" in a British accent. The Spears, meanwhile, have filed a restraining order against their daughter's pal and manager, Sam Lufti, whom Britney may have been given power of attorney—though her ability to make such a decision at the time is being questioned.
