(Newser) – A private jet crashed and burst into flames while attempting to land today in Aspen, Colo., killing one passenger and injuring the other two, the Aspen Times eports. One passenger suffered severe injuries and the other was mildly to moderately injuried. The plane, a Canadair Challenger 601 corporate jet, had originated in Mexico and flew from Tuscon, Ariz., to Aspen, ABC News reports. Two celebrities, singer LeeAnn Rimes and comedian Kevin Nealon, say they were at the scene and tweeted about the crash.

"Horrible plane crash here at Aspen airport," tweeted Nealon. "Exploded into flames as it was landing. I think it was a private jet." All flights in and out of the airport have been canceled for the afternoon, the Aspen Daily News reports.
