Els Tames Tiger for a Day

(Newser) – Ernie Els knows he has a long way to go, but he will take his 7-under 65 today that gave him a one-stroke lead in the Dubai Desert Classic, reports the Associated Press. Tiger Woods' day included a 73 that pushed him four strokes back, lots of missed putts, and an outburst at a photographer. Henrik Stenson is one back of Els.

"Probably need a really low one (score) tomorrow," Els said. "I can't see Henrik with Tiger and the other guys not shooting low." Els, who has won Dubai in 1994, 2002 and 2005, shot a bogie-free round with one eagle and five birdies. Woods lost his lead after getting just two birdies. "I didn't hit the ball close enough on the greens," he said.
