Monk Leads Hall of Fame Class

Posted Feb 3, 08 4:55 AM CST in Sports

(Newser) – What has been a rough season for the Washington Redskins got a little brighter yesterday when both Darrell Green and Art Monk were elected to the Pro Football Hall of Fame, reports AP. New England linebacker Andre Tippett, San Diego/San Francisco defensive end Fred Dean, Minnesota/Denver tackle Gary Zimmerman and  Kansas City cornerback Emmitt Thomas were also elected.

"Whether I deserved to play in the NFL or deserve even to be in Hall of Fame, I just loved the game, loved to play, loved being out there," Monk said. Cris Carter, second on the career list in catches and touchdowns, was not elected in his first year. Commissioner Paul Tagliabue also missed out.
