(Newser) – Harvey Weinstein thinks he's got the NRA's number. The movie mogul went on the Howard Stern Show yesterday to discuss among other things his upcoming directorial debut, which he described as a "Jews with guns" movie set during the Holocaust. When Stern asked Weinstein if he owned a gun, he replied, "I don't think we need guns in this country," and called the NRA a "disaster area."

Then came the part that grabbed the attention of Emily Miller at the Washington Times: "I'm going to make a movie with Meryl Streep, and we're going to take this head-on," he said. "And they're going to wish they weren't alive after I'm done with them." Stern asked if it would be a documentary, but Weinstein would say only that it would be a "big movie. Like a Mr. Smith goes to Washington." He predicted that gun stocks would "crash and burn" after it debuted.
