(Newser) – There's probably supposed to be a game or something on tonight, but for legions of Americans, Super Bowl Sunday is all about the commercials. EW jumped in its way-back machine and dug up the 11 most memorable big-game distractions. They were:

(NEWSER) - First it was Matthew Broderick as Ferris Bueller ; now, Jerry Seinfeld is looking back on past glories in a Super Bowl ad, Mashable reports. The commercial features Seinfeld battling to be the first to own a new Acura NSX. Trouble is, another guy already has dibs. So Seinfeld offers him everything from the Soup Nazi himself to a visit with the "last living Munchkin." In the end, another well-known car lover wins out. See the video at left in the gallery. Matthew Broderick stars in 'Matthew's Day Off' for Honda

(NEWSER) - The full-length Ferris Bueller-inspired Super Bowl ad is here, and AdWeek dubs it "awesome." Matthew Broderick stars in "Matthew's Day Off," a Honda ad in which he calls in sick to a film shoot in order to do all sorts of fun stuff in his CR-V. The extended version of the ad (watch in the gallery) clocks in at nearly two and a half minutes, and according to its YouTube page, features more than two dozen references to the 1986 movie. "Broderick doesn't sully the original film's reputation here," writes Tim Nudd. "Quite the opposite—this is how a tribute should look." More»

Ferris Bueller Is Back

Looks like Matthew Broderick will be gracing the Super Bowl

(NEWSER) - If you were a teen in 1986, prepare to freak out ... because Ferris Bueller is set to make an appearance during this year's Super Bowl. Chuckachucka2012 has posted a 10-second teaser of a commercial that will apparently air during the game, and though Matthew Broderick may look a little older, it's bound to take you back. The actor throws open the curtains and utters his famous line, with a small twist: "How can I handle work on a day like today?" It ends with a flash of "2.5.12" (the Super Bowl date) and the film's iconic "chicka chicka" music. More»
