One teaching assistant is dead and another in custody following a shooting at Purdue University today. Authorities say the victim is 21-year-old Andrew Boldt, who was a senior majoring in electrical engineering, reports USA Today. Police have arrested 23-year-old Cody Cousins, identified as a teaching assistant in computer engineering. Police say the gunman walked into Boldt's classroom, shot at him only, and then walked outside and turned himself in.

Police haven't speculated about a motive. Both men were teaching assistants under the same professor in the electrical engineering department, reports the Journal & Courier. Cousins has a prior arrest, in 2012, for suspicion of public intoxication. The school announced the shooting just after noon today, sending a text to students urging them to shelter in place, RTV 6 reports. That order was lifted shortly after 1:15pm, after police cleared the school's electrical engineering building, where the shooting took place. (More Purdue stories.)
