Pope: Internet Is a 'Gift From God'

(Newser) – There are a lot of opinions out there about the Internet—it's making us smarter, it's making us dumber, it's a time-waster, a world-changer—but here's one from an especially high authority: It's "a gift from God." Those were the words of Pope Francis. In a statement released for the Catholic Church’s World Communications Day, the pope said the Internet "offers immense possibilities for encounter and solidarity. This is something truly good, a gift from God." He had some caveats, too, including the possible isolation of those who over-indulge.

Ever hear the saying : 'The Pope smokes dope'? ...well now it's confirmed, for this one at least. The only gifts from God are life and free will, and all the ingenuity that goes with it.
