The home of 'Old Man Marley,' in Winnetka, Ill., is for sale.   (Zillow)

(Newser) – It took five years and a series of price reductions, but a home made famous in Ferris Bueller's Day Off is finally under contract. Cameron's home—the place where he sends his dad's Ferrari down a ravine—has gone under contract in Highland Park, Illinois, after the asking price got lowered to $1.25 million, reports the Chicago Tribune. It originally went up for sale in 2009 for $2.3 million and nearly got torn down at one point. If you're still in the market for a movie-famous home in suburban Chicago, the Consumerist notes that Old Man Marley's Winnetka mansion from Home Alone is now on the market for $3.1 million.

A house that large must have some very serious issues if it is worth only $1.2 million.

Actually, this works for me. My nephew is from the area and loves to yak about how they shot this movie around the place where he grew up. I've sent this article to my FB page so I can share it with him. He'll love it. He and I love the movie.
