(Newser) – A journal kept by the teenage gunman who killed two people and himself at a mall in suburban Baltimore reveals a troubled young mind. In a series of tweets from the Howard County Police Department, authorities said 19-year-old Darion Aguilar:

  • Wrote of killing people, but didn't mention specific names or locations, and cited a "general hatred of others"
  • Apologized to his family
  • Wrote that his plan was set, but again didn't offer specifics
  • Said he will ready and willing to die
  • Said he thought he needed the help of a mental health professional

The writings shed a bit more light into Aguilar's state of mind, "but they leave unanswered perhaps the most important questions," observes the Washington Post. Still unknown is why Aguilar chose the Mall at Columbia, the Zumiez skate shop in particular, and his two victims—a 21-year-old woman and a 25-year-old man. Meanwhile, TV critic David Zurawik at the Baltimore Sun blasts reports that he says amount to little more than rumor-mongering about a potential "domestic" motive.

I would of course like to read his journal and see if its a general desire to kill or if it was more specific. As it is a black man killed 2 white people as I understand. This could be a hate crime. Yet most black on White hate crimes are ignored. We need justice and fairness on this hate crime business.

Pass some REAL gun legislation. Gun nuts should be absolutely ashamed of the state that the country is in.
