Roseanne Eyed as New Rosie

Posted May 1, 07 8:45 AM CDT in Business Arts & Living

(Newser) – They can gab all they want about Elisabeth Hasselbeck's second pregnancy; it's Rosie's successor come June "The View" stalwarts are obsessing over. The Post claims the smart money is on Roseanne Barr—talk about typecasting—but other names circulating include Whoopi Goldberg, Connie Chung, and  Kathie Lee Gifford.

"She's a piece of work, she's a character, she says what's on her mind and she's funny," a source close to the search tells the Post, enumerating her qualifications. Roseanne has avoided the question, but her spokeswoman affects to be blasé. "It's almost like that rumor that spread last month about how she was going to be on 'Desperate Housewives,' "' she says.
