A&F Obscenity Charges Dropped

(Newser) – The city of Virginia Beach will not pursue obscenity charges brought against an Abercrombie & Fitch store manager because of posters depicting scantily clad models. One offending poster—used all over the country—showed three shirtless men, one with his jeans pulled well below his waist. A city lawyer said it would be difficult to prove the material was obscene, reports the Virginian-Pilot.

“You might see that typical vision walking down the streets," said the deputy city attorney, nevertheless backing the cop who wrote the store manager a summons. Some customers agree, and one flagged a possible double standard: "I don’t mind if they want to show naked guys because they show naked women everywhere,” said one female shopper.

City officials decided Monday that the photos depicted nudity but did not fully violate the obscenity code.   ((c) PinkMoose)
