Michael Sam could be the first gay football player in the NFL—assuming he actually gets drafted. Now that the University of Missouri lineman has come out, Sports Illustrated talked to personnel directors in the NFL who confirmed that some team managers just don't want to deal with the controversy. Needless to say, Jon Stewart took issue with that last night on the Daily Show. "No pro team wants the type of controversy having a gay player is going to cause," Stewart said, as pictures of other, apparently less-controversial, NFL players flashed onscreen. "If he had just been convicted of DUI vehicular manslaughter or obstruction of justice in connection with a murder or had been accused of sexual assault or screamed the N-word at a concert or killed a bunch of dogs and buried them in his f---ing yard, you know ... NFL material." (More Michael Sam stories.)
