For Deron, Revenge Is Sweet

Posted Feb 4, 08 11:13 PM CST in Sports

(Newser) – Hornets point guard Chris Paul may be going to the All-Star game, but his Jazz counterpart Deron Williams—selected one pick before Paul in the 2005 draft—was by far the dominant player in a 110-88 beating last night. In their ninth straight win, Utah also set a record for three-pointers, hitting 14 of 22.

Williams put Paul in foul trouble and ended with 29 points and 11 assists; the Hornets signal-caller had just six and six, plus five turnovers. Utah's recent acquisition Kyle Korver also put on a show, knocking down six baskets from long-range—an especially welcome contribution for a team that had been averaging less than four treys a game.
