(Newser) – The gold-medal game in women's hockey played out as advertised, with yet another thriller between USA and Canada. The Canadians prevailed with a 3-2 win in overtime for their fourth straight gold medal, reports AP. The loss is especially stinging for the US because it held a 2-0 lead with just over 3 minutes to play in the third period before giving up two late goals that forced overtime. In the extra period, Maria-Philip Poulin scored the game-winner on the power play. She scored the game-winner in the last Olympics, too, notes USA Today. And for good measure, she was the one who tied this game in the final minute. USA can get some retribution tomorrow: The men's team plays Canada in the semifinals.
