Clemens Testifies Under Oath on the Hill

Posted Feb 5, 08 9:37 PM CST in Sports

(Newser) – Roger Clemens spent five hours testifying to congressional lawyers under oath; he said he told them he never used performance-enhancing drugs. "It was great to be able to tell them what I've been saying all along—that I've never used steroids or growth hormone,” Clemens said about his time in the offices of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, reports the Associated Press.

The seven-time Cy Young Award winner’s closed-door, sworn testimony, along with that of Yankee’s teammate Andy Pettitte, is part of the preparation for the public, Feb. 13 hearings, which are expected to center on Brian McNamee’s allegations in the Mitchell Report that he injected the Rocket with steroids and human growth hormone over a dozen times throughout his career.
