It Was Patton, Not Thicke, Who Ended Marriage Sources say he flew to Vancouver to try and salvage relationship By Evann Gastaldo, Newser Staff Posted Feb 25, 2014 10:50 AM CST 6 comments Comments Paula Patton, left, and Robin Thicke arrive at the world premiere of "Baggage Claim" at the Premiere House at Regal Cinemas L.A. Sources tell TMZ it was Patton's decision to end their nine-year marriage—and that when she told Thicke on Friday, he canceled his show at the last minute and flew to Vancouver, where Patton is shooting a movie, in a "desperate" attempt to change her mind. But during their talk, both acknowledged they've been fighting a lot lately, and sources say Patton was set on separating while Thicke is quite unhappy about it. But sources tell Us the marriage has been "unraveling for a long time." TMZ previously speculated Patton might have gotten fed up with Thicke's flirtatious ways (he reportedly grabbed a female fan's butt last year after his raunchy VMAs performance with Miley Cyrus), though Patton has repeatedly claimed to be unfazed by all that. But back when the butt-grabbing incident came to light, the fan in question claimed Thicke had cheated on Patton with her even though Patton was nearby, and rumors of an open marriage began to swirl, Fox News reports. Just last month, according to Radar, photos of Thicke kissing another woman, this time in a Paris nightclub, emerged.
