Pacers Can't Keep Pace With Galloping Spurs

Posted Feb 5, 08 10:59 PM CST in Sports

(Newser) – After shooting a scorching 67.6% in the first half—78.9% in the first quarter—Indiana went cold at a bad time, scoring just nine points in the decisive third quarter as San Antonio went on to win, 116-89. Tim Duncan was his standard dominating self after an un-Spurs-like first half, which ended with the score knotted at 59.

He added 19 points and 15 boards, leading seven Spurs in double-digit scoring. Just-acquired point guard Damon Stoudamire contributed a healthy 11 points in 22 minutes. The NBA's defending champs improved to 2-2 on their nine-game roadtrip.
