Romney Gears Up for Hard Fight

(Newser) – Victorious only in his home state of Massachusetts, Utah, and five caucus states, Mitt Romney vowed last night to stay in the campaign—and is digging in for a long, hard battle, AP reports. Speaking in Boston, Romney pledged to fight all the way to the convention, casting his campaign as a struggle to save the nation's future. "It's not all done tonight. We're going to keep on battling," he said.

Among Romney's many defeats, Mike Huckabee's coup in West Virginia came as an especially bitter blow. Romney had counted on a win there for early positive publicity to spur votes in other states. A Romney spokesman took pains to dismiss Huckabee as unelectable and tell reporters that the GOP is still in a two-person race between Romney and McCain, the Washington Post reports.
