(Newser) – Investigators still don't know how or why a pregnant woman drove her car straight into the ocean in Daytona Beach, Fla., yesterday with her kids inside. The mother and her three children, ages 10, nine, and three, were driving on the beach in a place where cars are allowed on the sand. Investigators haven't been able to figure out exactly what happened before the SUV crashed into the water, but someone who helped in the rescue told WESH one of the kids said their mom was trying to kill them. But the station also notes she could have had a medical emergency at the wheel, causing her to lose control. A tourist from Canada caught the entire rescue on camera.

South Carolina's governor refused federal money to expand Medicaid. Poor women in the south have the highest infant mortality rates in the country. You're only important & worth consideration if you're wealthy.

Family members told police that 32-year-old Ebony Wilkerson of South Carolina was acting strange about two hours before driving the van into the ocean. Her sister had called local police and told them that Wilkerson had been talking about demons before she left the house.
