Britney Checks Out of LA Hospital

(Newser) – Britney Spears was released today from the psychiatric ward at a Los Angeles hospital, just six days after entering the facility under an intense media spotlight. The pop diva avoided the glare today, slipping out of UCLA Medical Center amid a throng of private security. Spears was possibly headed for one of her homes before seeking additional treatment, the Los Angeles Times reports.

Spears’ psychiatrist had extended her hospital stay by two weeks, but the pop star could have been released earlier by her doctor or a judge, AFP notes. While Spears rested during her second hospital stay in a month, her father filed a grand theft report, claiming jewelry, paintings, and other goods were lifted from his daughter’s home.
