Spurs Power Past Slumping Wizards 85-77

Posted Feb 7, 08 12:48 AM CST in Sports

(Newser) – A rejuvenated Robert Horry led San Antonio on a 17-4 third quarter run that gave the Spurs the lead and carried them to an 85-77 win over Washington. The Wizards have now lost five straight, reports the Associated Press. The skid has coincided with All-Star Caron Butler’s hip injury that has sidelined him four times in the past six games. Elsewhere in the Association:

  • Joe Johnson forced a Kobe Bryant turnover with eight seconds remaining, got fouled and buried the free-throws to seal a 98-95 Atlanta victory over the Lakers. Johnson had a game-high 28 points.
  • Dwight Howard had 21 points and 13 rebounds as Orlando beat badly-slumping New Jersey 100-84. The Nets have now lost 13 of their last 16 games.
