(Newser) – The Longhorn’s backcourt duo of A.J. Abrams and D.J. Augustin scored 41 points as No. 12 Texas beat rival Oklahoma 64-54. The Sooners kept it close deep into the second half but an Abrams jumper with 9:41 remaining in the second half gave Texas the lead for good. Blake Griffin led Oklahoma with 19 points and four assists, reports the Associated Press. Other rivalries around the country:

  • The No. 19 Connecticut Huskies continued their climb up the Big East standings with a 63-61 win over Syracuse. The win gives UConn a six-game winning streak and moves them into third in the conference.
  • Alex Gordon led No. 23 Vanderbilt with 14 points as the Commodores beat the slumping Bulldogs of Georgia 67-59.
