Pakistan Busts 2 More in Bhutto Hit

(Newser) – Pakistani authorities have charged two alleged terrorists with participating in the assassination of Benazir Bhutto, reports AFP. The two men are from Rawalpindi, where the former PM was killed in December. "Their tentacles are from the tribal region and Baitullah Mehsud," said a senior official, referring to the militant from Pakistan's northwest. Investigators last month arrested a teenager who said he was a back-up bomber for a squad sent to kill Bhutto.

Mehsud, who has collaborated with al-Qaeda, has denied any involvement in the assassination. The arrests came as 20,000 supporters ended their 40-day period of mourning at the family's ancestral village where Bhutto was laid to rest. Her widower and political successor, Asif Ali Zardari, has said that he may consider running in this month's elections.
