What came between Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin? If you're guessing, "her interminable dinner parties," well, you actually might be on the right track. Radar reports that Martin has been unhappy ever since the couple moved to LA last summer. They previously lived in London, where Martin is from, and sources say he wants to go back. "Chris doesn’t have any family or friends in Los Angeles," says one. "His Coldplay bandmates are based in London, and that is where his world is. Gwyneth had always said she never wanted to live in LA, and then abruptly changed her mind last year." She plans to stay in California with their children, while Martin will return to England, the source adds, though he'll "commute back and forth to see the kids." Oddly, the split was announced just six days after the LA Times reported that the couple closed on a $14 million mansion in Malibu.

Another source previously told Radar that Martin "just isn't into the Hollywood scene," and "has essentially put his career on the back burner" in order to live in LA. "At first, Chris was doing it for Gwyneth because of the sacrifices she made for him, especially since he would be on the road for months at time while the band was touring," that source adds. "However, Chris now recognizes that Gwyneth doesn’t need to be living in Los Angeles for her career." People's sources are less dramatic—"They have worked really hard for a year or more, going to therapy, trying to make it work ... but they just decided it was best to not be together anymore as a couple," says one—but they do agree that the couple long struggled with distance and conflicting work schedules. E!'s sources say Paltrow and Martin simply "grew apart" and "fell out of love." (As PopSugar notes, Paltrow has certainly said some suspicious things about marriage over the years.)
