(Newser) SELF magazine has apologized over its offensive write-up about a San Diego woman with cancer. Monika Allen was thrilled when SELF asked to use a picture of her in a tutu running in the Los Angeles Marathon. That is, until she saw the article. It appeared in a segment titled "The BS Meter," and its caption made fun of the "tutu epidemic," calling tutus "lame." But Allen, who sells tutus to runners and donates the money to the Girls on the Run charity, was running the LA Marathon while in the middle of chemotherapy for brain cancer and says she wears tutus while running for motivation. SELF apologized after it was hit with quite a bit of backlash.

Interesting how news media covers for each other. they mention the woman with cancer. Monika Allen. But they don't mention the writer of 'The BS Meter' article. Isn't it the main subject matter?

Wrong, Newsy. Self didn't shame her. They made have tried but I don't believe she fell for it. They only shamed themselves.
