(Newser) – A British documentary airing next week makes an astonishing claim: Hitler inadvertently married a Jew in one of his last acts before suicide, reports the Telegraph. The Channel 4 show, Dead Famous DNA, maintains that hair from Eva Braun's brush suggests she had Jewish ancestry on her mother's side. One caveat is that producers were unable to get DNA swabs from Braun's living relatives to confirm that the hair belongs to her, reports the Independent. But the circumstantial evidence is strong: It comes from a hairbrush taken from her apartment by a US Army officer, and it was inside a cosmetics case monogrammed with her initials.

In analyzing the hair, researchers found a DNA sequence associated with Ashkenazi Jews that is passed from mother to daughter. The Times of Israel explains that many Ashkenazi Jews converted to Catholicism in Germany during the 19th century. Braun attended Catholic school, and Hitler had her background carefully vetted before pursuing a relationship with the woman 23 years his junior, notes the Independent. The show suggests that neither she nor Hitler would have known about her Jewish roots. They were married in Hitler's bunker on April 29, 1945, and committed suicide ahead of advancing Soviet troops the next day. He's genetically enough of a jew to have been sent to the gas chamber. He did a rather good job covering it up. But those relatives in hiding were eventually found. Prior to the blitzkrieg, when Charles Lindbergh was worshiping Hitler, one of William Randolf Hearst's reporters was in Austria and he uncovered the evidence of it. Hearst had a problem though. One of his closest friends and confidants was Henry Ford, a devout antisemite. Ford published his own antisemitic newspaper, "The Dearborn Independent." For his efforts, Hitler awarded Henry Ford, The Grand Cross of the German Eagle, the highest award for a Nazi. So Hearst had a problem of dissing a hero of Henry Ford when Ford was buying millions of dollars in advertising in Hearst world publications. Hearst was not willing to put out a possibly liable story about Ford's hero. So Hearst supresssed it and it took an independent investigation many decades later to uncover it.

There is no such thing as a "genetic Jew", Judaism is a belief system, not a genetic trait. Braun may indeed have decended from Jews, but not genetically as in hair or eye color.

antisemitism rampant all over europe...what hitler did was turn defeat of german in wwi and surrounding nations and versailles agreement into a weapon and blamed the jews--read mien kampf ...he makes his hate clear there. the euopean andesp. german attitude easily transposed into the holocaust...always easy to get a people feeling pickled upon to look outward for a scape goat..illegals, gypsies, blacks, etc etc
