(Newser) – Passengers on a plane from Las Vegas to Duluth, Minn., had to turn around mid-flight this week for a reason you might not expect—a swarm of bees. The Allegiant Air jet with 160 passengers aboard apparently flew smack into the swarm, and the pilot decided to play it safe rather than trying to complete the flight. Passengers said it smelled as if the plane were on fire, but the jet came down safely back in Vegas.

At least the unbearable, constant stinging distracts one from the terrible food.

Congratulations to the pilots for considering the safety of all! I would rather be late getting somewhere than to be found in bits and pieces mixed up in plane wreckage!

The poor things were just there to catch the Bee Gees.
