(Newser) – Three people, including the pilot, managed to jump to safety using parachutes when a plane carrying skydivers experienced trouble over western Finland; another eight were killed when the aircraft crashed and caught fire, the BBC reports. Witnesses saw the three jump from the American-made Comp Air 8 light utility aircraft before it came down at a steep angle, the Wall Street Journal reports. Investigators probing the country's worst plane accident in decades say they are looking into reports that some parts fell off the plane during the final moments of flight.

When I read this this morning, the report was that the PILOT and two others jumped successfully from the plane. The PILOT ... jumped from his plane and left his passengers to plummet to Earth and die.

They need to develop some kind of parachute for planes.

A real Tragedy for sure. I hope the pilot didn't bail before attempting every life saving maneuver of the plane. By legend, a Captain is supposed to go down with his ship, evidently a pilot doesn't go down with his plane. I guess we just found out recently that the Captain no longer goes down with his ship either.
