(Newser) – On the heels of its new breakfast menu, Taco Bell has something else cooking: a new restaurant that will have nothing to do with Taco Bell. The strategy was revealed last week as parent company Yum Brands showcased a new restaurant called US Taco Co. to food critics and reporters. The restaurant, which will debut in Huntington Beach, California, is an attempt to get in on the "fast casual" trend that’s made Panera Bread and Chipotle locations ubiquitous around the country. (Yum Brands is doing something similar with a KFC spin-off.) US Taco will serve gourmet tacos, steak fries, and spiked shakes in mason jars, and will feature an open kitchen called a "Food Theater" where customers can watch their tacos being made.
