(Newser) – The shooter who wounded six co-workers at a FedEx shipping facility near Atlanta today before killing himself has been identified as 19-year-old Geddy Kramer, reports the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. “We’re dealing with our own loss and wishing the best to everyone who was affected,” said the gunman's father, Scott Kramer. “We make no excuses for his actions and are shocked and devastated by them,” he added. Police say they have a general idea of the motive but aren't ready to make it public.

Of the six people that Kramer wounded, one remained in critical condition with life-threatening injuries this evening, three were in stable condition, and two were treated and released, reports AP. Police say Kramer had a shotgun and Molotov cocktails, though he did not use the latter in his attack. He fatally shot himself before police arrived. "It was chaos," recalls a FedEx truck driver who arrived at work about 6am and saw that a security guard had been shot. "Everyone was running, ducking and hiding, trying to get out of there."

Media, movies, games and Internet News all focus on death and killing and they wonder why someone takes the hint. Better to ask why we don't have tragedy every day. Oh wait...

Now if only the media or authorities would mention where this kid got those guns. Maybe then we can find someone to be charged with negligence. Nah, not gonna happen. Because the main purpose of this sensational story is to make people fear guns. And in turn, make them scream for them to be banned. Guvment doesn't need to take away guns...the people will voluntarily give them up.

One thing that bothers me is how inconsistent the media is in using terms like 'teenager' and 'man'. In our society if you're over 18 you're considered an adult. To call a 19 year old a 'teenager'. while grammatically correct, isn't accurate. But news outlets jump between teenager' (implying someone not yet an adult) and 'Man' (or woman) regularly. This person is an adult, considered responsible for his actions and shouldn't be called a 'teenager' any more.
