Today Show Staff: We Don't Want Katie Couric Back

With Today co-host Savannah Guthrie pregnant, execs are thinking of asking Katie Couric or Meredith Vieira to return and fill in during Guthrie's maternity leave—and staffers aren't exactly welcoming either back with open arms. Staffers see the idea as "a disservice to [co-hosts] Natalie [Morales] and Tamron [Hall]," one insider explains to Radar. "You already have two seasoned pros that are a part of the show, ready, willing, and able to step up for Savannah."

And if execs are hoping to boost Today's ratings, bringing back Couric or Vieira is a particularly bad idea, the insider continues: "If anything, it will just remind viewers how far the show has fallen since that time. The network just doesn’t seem to understand that the show has no chance of being number one with Matt Lauer as part of the show, period." Why? Because people believe that he was behind Ann Curry's forced exit. Click for more from the apparently bitter insider. (More Savannah Guthrie stories.)
